Communicate With Confidence - Public Speaking Training Course and Workshop
Audience: Professionals developing public speaking and presentation skills
Format: Two-hour virtual course · Three-hour in-person workshop
Tool: Microsoft PowerPoint
An interactive public speaking course designed to help professionals build confidence, organize compelling messages, and strengthen their presentation skills. Topics include managing speaking anxiety, audience awareness, message structure, vocal and nonverbal communication, and audience engagement.
My role
I independently designed and developed the course from initial research and storyboarding through instructional content, visual design, activity development, and facilitation. I created a two-hour virtual course and expanded it into a three-hour in-person workshop with additional hands-on practice, collaborative exercises, and opportunities for individualized feedback.
For the workshop, I designed a sequence of progressive speaking activities that allowed participants to develop and refine a single presentation throughout the session. Learners began with a brief speaking exercise, applied techniques for structuring and delivering their message, practiced specific communication skills with peer feedback, and concluded by delivering a short presentation incorporating what they had learned.

Design Challenge and Approach
The primary challenge was helping participants develop confidence in a skill that can feel intimidating, particularly when practicing in front of others. I wanted to create an approachable learning environment that balanced foundational knowledge with meaningful opportunities to practice, reflect, and improve.
Rather than relying on isolated speaking exercises, I used a scaffolded approach that built toward a culminating presentation. Participants began with a familiar, low-stakes topic and gradually developed their message while practicing structure, vocal delivery, body language, and audience engagement. This approach allowed learners to focus on individual skills before combining them into a complete speaking experience.
The expanded workshop also incorporated structured peer feedback, guided reflection, and facilitator coaching to help participants recognize their strengths and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
