My Process

Analysis: Understanding What’s Needed

I start by analyzing the project to understand the current situation, the learning gaps of the target audience, and the intended goal of the training. This helps with determining what resources are needed, the scope of the project, and what the timeline might look like regarding deliverables.

Design: Charting a Course

Next is mapping out the training into a course outline. This initial framework involves crafting the learning objectives, determining the type of delivery method needed, and deciding the overall course structure. From there, I create a storyboard to start bringing the outline to life.

Development: Crafting Content

It’s here that the training really starts taking shape. Either individually or with the help of a subject matter expert, the course content is researched and created in order to develop a prototype of the course based on the storyboard. The first draft of the prototype is very simplistic, with the branding and visual elements added with each new iteration following input from stakeholders or a development team. Finally, the course is ready for testing and any additional adjustments.

Implementation: Turning Plans into Action

It’s time for rollout! The course is finally ready to be shared with learners via the delivery method agreed on in the design phase. Whether this is an in-person or virtual session, or the course is uploaded to an LMS, I work to ensure delivery goes smoothly by monitoring for issues or hiccups along the way and tracking learner progress.

Evaluation: Measuring Impact

Learning and development needs to be an iterative process, and the evaluation phase is essential for making that happen. In this phase, it’s my goal to make sure the training was actually effective and did what it was supposed to. This can be done by analyzing learner feedback, assessments, and measuring and assessing performance outcomes. Based on that, any necessary changes or adjustments are made to improve the learning experience!
